Travel & Hospitality

The Travel & Tourism sector, a powerhouse in the global economy, was valued at $8 trillion pre-pandemic and is now poised for extraordinary growth. By 2033, the industry is projected to expand by 50%, reaching a staggering $15.5 trillion and making up 11.6% of the global economy.

With 430 million jobs—11% of global employment—this sector is a critical driver of opportunity and innovation worldwide. Growing nearly twice as fast as the global economy, Travel & Tourism will continue to shape economic landscapes, with leading countries like the USA, China, and Germany setting the pace. As one of the most dynamic and essential industries, it’s vital for companies to attract visionary leadership to harness its full potential.

What We Do

TRAVEL & TOURISM TODAY

AI is here, and it is transforming the industry.

Today’s traveler relies on their mobile device as a 'Central Command,' managing every aspect of their journey—from airline, hotel, and car bookings to restaurant reservations, transportation, and retail purchases. Consumers now expect seamless, digital-first experiences, with the ability to handle everything from check-in to activities through their devices.

Artificial Intelligence is taking this convenience to the next level, enhancing guest experiences by providing personalized services and optimizing operational efficiency. AI learns individual preferences, behaviors, and financial parameters, allowing it to offer tailored suggestions that streamline the often-lengthy search for destinations and accommodations. Additionally, AI-powered dynamic pricing optimizes revenue by analyzing real-time data on demand, competition, and pricing trends.

Looking ahead, AI will simplify travel planning even further, enhance security through advanced facial recognition and screening technologies, and continually refine travel experiences. The goal is clear: creating smoother, more enjoyable journeys for all.

Who is Traveling?

A June 2024 McKinsey article, What is the Future of Travel? offers insights into the evolving traveler demographic.

  • Millennials and Gen Z are leading the charge, spending a higher percentage of their income on travel compared to older generations. These younger travelers are particularly keen on international adventures, planning nearly as many trips abroad as domestically in 2024, while older generations plan twice as many domestic trips.
  • Baby Boomers still account for 20% of overall travel spending, prioritizing comforts like non-stop flights, though they tend to cut back on experiences to save money—unlike Gen Z, who will reduce other expenses before sacrificing experiences.

The Labor Challenge Continues…

While demand for travel is soaring, the hospitality industry is still facing a persistent labor shortage, with over 80% of hotels reporting gaps in at least ten positions. Post-pandemic, many frontline workers found employment in other industries, leaving hospitality with the challenge of attracting experienced talent back and recruiting many with no prior experience. To compete, the industry is reassessing compensation and benefits, pushing up operating costs and guestroom pricing as a result. Signing bonuses, improved working conditions, and flexible hours are being offered, but in many cases understaffing has forced hotels to reduce the number of rooms available, which is not a sustainable solution.

This labor shortfall has also accelerated investment in AI and automation. Self-service kiosks, mobile apps for room access, and other automated services are filling some of the gaps left by the workforce shortage. But this is a people-driven business at its core, and solving this challenge will require a combination of better job opportunities, focused career development, and strategic technology investments.
